Bows and Bubbles Pet Salon moves to a new location in Wadena

“I opened up what has been my goal since deciding I wanted my own business,” Sanderson said of the new location. She started pet grooming at the age of 15. “We’ve got the grooming, day care, boarding, retail, whatever you could put in a little store, and we’re finally here.”

The show moved downtown to Highway 10 the week of August 30. And don’t worry, office cats Humphrey and Edna have also moved to the new building.

At the old Firehouse restaurant near Highway 75, they have five times more space than before, leaving room for more services, including boarding for dogs and cats, doggy day care, and retail items for cats, dogs and reptiles.

“We’re going to have 24/7 care here, so when a dog is boarded it will never be unattended overnight… we can also have night workers guarded overnight,” said Sanderson.

There are seven kennels, although dogs from the same household can be in a kennel together. She said the smaller amount allows staff to give the animals good attention, such as sitting with them for 30 to 40 minutes when they are scared. The extra space also means separate areas for problem-causing dogs, those that are smaller and older dogs. The cat area is under construction. A large garden area will also be available soon.

“We would much prefer that we could be more individual with each dog so that we can spend more time with them, make sure they are more comfortable, can meet their needs more often,” said Sanderson of 30. – 40 kennels. “It’s a much quieter, uncrowded setting for the dogs who are here.”

In their first week, boarding reservations were coming in and the daycare was in full swing, as Sanderson said.

In the retail section, Sanderson said the products are the ones she trusts for her animals and each product is reviewed for quality and cost. In addition, it is a service that is offered here instead of driving to Brainerd. There will be more products soon and people are welcome to make product recommendations.

Although there are many new things to adapt to, the priorities of safety, cleanliness and comfort for animals remain. Sanderson said providing this quality care and compassion for animals is a value of all staff.

“Watching them come out of the living room comfortable and adorable and so brave and happy after their haircuts and baths is such a great feeling,” said Sanderson.
