Groom Haven Pet Grooming Salon Opens Today in Federal Hill

The Groom Haven Pet Grooming Salon opens today at 41 E. Fort Ave. at Federal Hill. Groom Haven is taking over a first floor retail space that was Custom Touch Cleaners before it closed last year.

Groom Haven is owned by husband and wife Mark and Stephanie Brick. The two entrepreneurs, who also own a property management and DIY business, believed the neighborhood needed a good groomer after hearing about the closure of Pet Valu. The Bricks would bring their schnoodle / terrier mix to Pet Valu for cuts.

The couple were able to purchase much of the old equipment from Pet Valu and hired a former groomer from the store as a consultant.

Groom Haven has also hired Iesha Wilson as a groomer and will be bringing in a second groomer this summer. Groom Haven will groom dogs, cats and rabbits. Services will include haircuts as well as basic washes, flea and tick treatments, “less shedding” treatments, ear cleanings, tooth brushing, nail trimming and expression. anal gland.

Appointments are available every day between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Groom Haven will also have a small pet supply retail area.

Mark Brick said they renovated the roughly 450 square foot space themselves and gave the old dry-cleaning carousel to a Pikesville man who was building a roller coaster in his backyard. Dog-themed artwork has been added to the walls.

Mark Brick has said he would be interested in opening a second location if Groom Haven is successful. He noted that while many sales of pet supplies have shifted online to companies like, everyone still needs bricks and mortar for grooming.
