That was Aiden Shade’s defiant message as he prepares to open his new pet store on Wishaw’s main street.
Many commentators believe the COVID pandemic will be the final nail in the High Street coffin.
But the new business is determined to turn the tide and succeed in the city. And with the easing of restrictions last week, Kobella Pets opened for the first time.

Aiden told Lanarkshire Live: “Myself and my business partner, Sean Carr, have been considering starting a pet store for some time.
“I think we must be crazy, but you have to go.
“I’m studying business at university, but Sean has been in the animal business for many years. Starting a business is never easy, but if you’re passionate about something, you need to go for it.
“It was a good first week for us. It was great to finally have the green light to open.
“We had a lot of people who came and wished us good luck.”
Aiden and Sean are totally convinced that they, and other businesses like them, can be successful by opening up even in these troubled times.
In addition to your traditional pet food, Kobella also offers a range of other items including luxury colognes, pet perfumes and shampoos.

The store also aims to protect the environment just as owners protect their pets.
Each area of the store has a zero waste department in the hope that in the near future the store will be zero waste.
Aiden was excited about the number of good wishes from Wishaw buyers and thinks
He added, “We were all thrilled with the response we got.
“It seems like the kind of city everyone wants you to do well.
“I think we need to see more independent stores, but I think we got to Main Street at the right time.
“We have a few dog groomers in the city center and the vets aren’t far from us either, so you can see the Main Street is pet-friendly.”
