A PET store in Chadderton was targeted by thieves described as a “thong carrying garbage and its companion”.
At around 4 p.m. on Thursday August 26, two men were captured on CCTV dragging a kennel outside the Rawsome Pets store on Neville Street, Chadderton before putting him in a white van and fleeing the scene.
The next day, after notifying the police, the store posted a public appeal on Facebook in hopes of locating the thieves.
The post, which includes screenshots of CCTV footage from the flight, read: “We would appreciate a quick share to see if Facebook can help find this flip-flop carrying a bastard and his mate who stole our kennel.” ”
The screenshots reveal not only the faces of the thieves but also the license plate of the pickup truck. The getaway vehicle is believed to have no insurance or MOT. The van’s license plate was scrambled by The Oldham Times because CCTV footage was not released by police.
The store then posted the full CCTV footage of the theft in the comments under the Facebook post.
The post has so far been shared over 200 times and garnered over 30 comments from shocked members of the public. Despite the response, the thieves have yet to be arrested.
One person wrote: “Disgusting. I am so sorry that this has happened to you. You are working hard with the company, and this is the last thing that should happen.
Another added: “I can’t believe their nerve. Hopefully they will be unmasked and brought to justice.
A third simply said, “Put them in the doghouse.”
The Oldham Times contacted Greater Manchester Police for an update.
