A Woodley pet shop held a special Platinum Jubilee event where children were encouraged to create crowns to be worn by the Queen’s favorite dog, a Corgi.
Woodley Pets in the shopping district provided the youngsters with a design sheet and left them to find the most exciting design suitable for a queen.
Winners received a Percy the Pig basket from Mark’s and Spencer, and each participating child also received Percy the Pig candies.
Not only celebrating Her Majesty’s 70 years on the throne, but it was also the 10th anniversary of the opening of the pet shop.
Woodley Pets owner Michael Dalton told the Reading Chronicle: “We had a nice range of crowns that the kids made for competition. The brief was to design a crown for one of the Queen’s corgis. They all tried so hard. I asked our downtown manager, Brian Fennelly, to judge the entries yesterday afternoon and he picked the winner – who will receive an M&S Percy Pig basket full of sweets. I will be arranging smaller Percy Pig packages for everyone who participated.
“We thought it was a great way to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee. It was also our shop’s 10th anniversary, so we had the pleasure of celebrating that too.
