A POPULAR new pet store in Bidford specializing in horse products could create four or more jobs by next spring.
Bidford Pet Co on the Bidavon Industrial Estate on Waterloo Road opened during the Covid-19 lockdown in July.
The pet store and farm food retailer welcome in-store customers but will also take orders by phone and be able to deliver bulk purchases locally.
Business partners Kelly-Louise Burrows and Ashleigh Taylor, who previously worked together at a dog grooming company, started the pet store after seeing a gap in the market.
Ms Burrows said: “Things have been going really well since our opening, with revenues growing much faster than we expected, especially given the current economic conditions.
“It’s the personal ordering and delivery service that has been proven to work because people just don’t enjoy their purchases after Covid-19.”
The new store already employs Ms Burrows and Ms Taylor, with part-time help from Ms Taylor’s mother, and it could employ two store workers in 2021 if the first success continues.
Ms Burrows added: “The equine side of the business is popular because there is nowhere else here, so horse owners are very happy to have a local place for what they need.”
Redditch’s real estate agency John Truslove helped the company find its new home in the industrial estate. Ben Truslove, deputy general manager of John Truslove, said: “This is a new pet store and a new horse supply company, and the enthusiasm of Kelly and Ashleigh is reflected in both the exterior signage. , interior decoration and layout.
“It’s great to have popular stores like this in the industrial area where there is great visibility to passing shops and plenty of parking available.”
