Pedestrians downtown may have noticed the empty storefront where the Ufuri animal lounge was located. But the living room is open for business, it just moved north of a block and across the street.
Ufuri Pet Salon has moved to new premises in downtown Port Huron and opened in the new storefront on Wednesday.
Owner Spring Burrell said the new location at 414 Huron Ave. offered a floor plan better suited to his needs. The pet salon offers all of the same services as before, including retail and doggy day care. Resident cats Lickey and Banjo still snuggle up on the store counter.
“It will be a little quieter for geriatric dogs,” Burrell said.
Ufuri Pet Salon has also added a new certified groomer, Joan Bucknarish. Parking is available in the Brass Rail parking lot behind the storefront on Huron Avenue.
Burrell said she also liked being located between Ceder Sub and Salad and Mama Vicki’s Coney Island.
“Go to lunch, then come get your dog,” Burrell said.
When asked what new tenants might move into Ufuri Pet Salon’s former location at 235 Huron Ave., Downtown Development Authority director Natalie Watson declined to comment.

Their new location previously housed Loud Music and Apparel.
